West Indies vs. India | Match Prediction, Betting Tip & Odds
After the first match of the series was spoilt by rain, the West Indies and India move on to Trinidad and Tobago for their second ODI encounter, in the hope of a result being registered at least. India have had much the better of proceedings during their tour of the West Indies so far, however the hosts will be looking to turn things around at the Queen’s Park Oval.
Initial Situation for the Game West Indies vs. India
Just 13 overs were bowled between the West Indies and India on Thursday, in what was a hugely disappointing experience for both teams. The Windies were 54-1 when rain stopped play, with Chris Gayle having been bowled by spinner Kuldeep Yadav for just four. As a result, it remains to be seen as to whether the hosts can turn around their poor run of form of late, or whether it will be World Cup semi-finalists India who will maintain their winning streak. With a large number of bets expected to be placed on the match, let’s take a closer look at the two teams, including their player availability and recent form, starting with the West Indies.
West Indies Form
The West Indies returned to One-Day action for the first time since their disastrous World Cup campaign on Thursday, with veteran opener Chris Gayle having overturned his retirement decision in order to help his side get out of their slump. The Windies won just two games during their time in England, whilst their lacklustre start against India on Thursday did not provide much confidence of a revival. However, a quickfire 40* from Evin Lewis demonstrated why he is once again set to be the danger man for the hosts.
Some impressive performances helped India to a T20 series whitewash at the beginning of their tour, while their standing in the ICC rankings means that India are the firm favourites to continue their winning streak in the 50 over format of the game, despite the testing conditions. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma having been in impressive form with the bat, whilst the bowling of Mohammed Shami & Co is set to once again test the Windies top order to the limit.
Latest Team News
Both teams are expected to name unchanged teams at the Queen’s Park Oval, with not many players having been given a chance to shine last time out due to the adverse weather conditions.
With their most recent encounter having been abandoned due to rain with just 13 overs having been played, the head-to-head record between the two teams remains the same. India have won their last three ODI matches against New Zealand, a run which includes their 125-run success at Old Trafford during the recent World Cup in England. In fact, the Windies have won just two of their last ten one-day matches against India, with their last victory coming in Pune back in October 2018. If the head-to-head record between the two nations is to go by, it is India who are the favourites on Thursday.
